Some of the best crime analysis training comes from the people doing the work. NACA is building a network of experienced practitioners, instructors, researchers, and subject-matter experts who can bring practical, relevant, and innovative training to the crime analysis community.
Throughout the year, NACA will issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for instructors to develop and deliver webinars, courses, workshops, and other professional development opportunities. Individual RFPs will identify the topic, intended audience, delivery format, expectations, timeline, compensation when applicable, and submission requirements.
What We're Looking For
We are especially interested in hands-on, skills-based training that gives analysts knowledge and tools they can immediately apply in their work. Topics may include:
•SQL & Databases - querying data, relational databases, database design, data management, and data quality
•GIS & Spatial Analysis - ArcGIS Pro, crime mapping, hotspot analysis, and other spatial techniques
•Data Visualization & Business Intelligence - Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio, dashboards, reporting, and data storytelling
•Microsoft Excel - formulas, PivotTables, Power Query, data cleaning, analysis, and automation
•Microsoft Access - database design, queries, forms, reports, and analytical applications
•Statistics & Analytical Methods - statistical analysis, forecasting, trend analysis, pattern identification, and quantitative methods
•Crime Analysis - tactical, strategic, administrative, investigative, intelligence, and problem analysis
•Problem Solving & Evidence-Based Policing - SARA, problem-oriented policing, evaluation, performance measurement, and research-informed practices
•OSINT & Investigative Research - open-source research, link analysis, investigative tools, and information evaluation
•Automation, AI & Emerging Technology - workflow automation, generative AI, machine learning, scripting, and emerging analytical technologies
•Analytical Products & Communication - bulletins, reports, link charts, timelines, analytical writing, visualization, and presenting findings
•Leadership & Professional Development - managing analytical units, project management, communicating with leadership, career development, and building effective crime analysis programs
These areas align with NACA's broader commitment to training that reflects current methods and best practices while responding to the evolving professional development needs of crime analysts.
